During each period, there will be two afternoon sessions with talks. Students can present their thesis during these talks and all masterstudents are invited to attend them. Students are still able to collect points for attending these colloquia.
In period 4 of the academic year 2011/12, the following sessions have
been scheduled
(visible in
the CAI
rooster):
There are no seminars scheduled at this point.
There can be up to four talks in each session, which thus should resemble a mini-conference. There will be a laptop/beamer for your presentations, and a coffee break will be provided after the first two talks.
There will be a need chairpersons for the talks (one for each 90min
block of two talks). By acting as a chairperson you can earn one
additional "talks visited" point, of which 20 (plus a
presentation) are required for finishing the course
successfully.
As a chairperson, it is your duty to:
| 1. | |
| 2. | Introduce the speaker, at least giving his/her name (correctly pronounced -- ask if you're unsure) and the paper title. |
| 3. | See to it that the talk starts in time. |
| 4. | See to it that the 30min speaking time is kept (e.g., by agreeing on a signal with the speaker, like a raised hand with 5 fingers 5 min before the time is up). |
| 5. | Keep a list of questions after the talk and call people in the order in which they raised their hands. |
| 6. | Finish the session in time, not forgetting to thank the speaker. |
You can find the official description of the course here.
