Ria van der Lecq studied classics and philosophy at Leiden University. In 1983 she obtained her Ph.D. in Utrecht with a dissertation on John Buridan's Commentary on Aristotle's Peri hermeneias. She has published several editions of other works on logic by Buridan. Since 2003 she is director of studies of the Dutch Liberal arts & sciences program at Utrecht University.
